“By God’s grace, we learn to loveand love to learn.”
We had another fabulous Forest Schools session this week. We started off by going on a 'Non-object' hunt. Mrs Bedford had hidden things within the wild area that shouldn't have been there are we have to find them. Some of them were really well camouflaged so we had to look very carefully. Afterwards we learn how to plant Sunflower seeds and we also went on a bug hunt. It was really good fun, we found lots of different types of mini-beasts including Leopard slugs, beetles, worms, millipedes and centipedes.
We were really excited to do Forest Schools this week as the weather had been pretty grim. We started the session by playing 'Forty Forty'. It was really great fun as we had to hide and sneak back to the base without being seen. Afterwards, Mrs Bedford showed us 12 different items she had found within the school grounds. Once she had shown us them all she hid them and we had to work in small teams and scavenger around the grounds to find the same items, it was really good fun. Finally we played the floor is lava. We had to be really creative in finding ways of keeping our feet off the ground!
We started this week by playing Ninja Squirrels again and we were much better at hiding! We then learnt how to build a den. We used 'y' sticks to build the structure and then used smaller sticks to create ribs. We collected silver birch twigs to fill in the gaps and then used leaves to make a cover. After we had build our den we sat in it and listened to the story 'We are together'.
We started Forest Schools by playing Ninja Squirrels which was really good fun. After that we read the book 'Not a Stick'. We were then allowed to explore the wild area, find sticks and create and build whatever we wanted. It was lots of fun.
