Welcome to Spring term! On Tuesday afternnoons this term KS 2 children will be doing indoor athletics, this ties in with the inter-schools event at Leftwich County High School. The children will take ownership of setting up the necessary equipment and choosing the activities based on challenge level and variety to ensure all parts of the body are exercised. Class 4 children will be observing the class 3 children, evaluating their performance and offering advice on how to improve. All children will have the opportunity to record their results and try to improve on their personal best.
Friday afternoon PE will consist of separate class 3 and 4 children learning badminton, with class 4 learning tactical positions and how to score before refereeing their own matches.
During the Autumn term the children of classes 3 will have the benefit of a professional coach for their PE lessons. Those children working towards their KS2 swimming targets will be having weekly swimming lessons at St. John Deane's pool with a qualified teacher, travelling by minibus with Miss Crowson. This will happen on Tuesday afternoons.
Those KS2 children remaining in school on a Tuesday afternoon will be taught gymnastics in the hall for the first half term followed by dance (focussing on the Vikings) in the second half of this term. On Friday afternoons KS2 children will be taught as class 3 and class 4 separately with the focus on netball until half term and hockey after half term.
