Autumn 2 - Christian Community and Incarnation

This half term we are covering how a Christian shows that they belong to the Church.  We are looking at the various ways that a church will reach out to the community around it - such as through charity work, foodbanks, soup kitchens, cafes or work in the local area.  We will be finding out what makes a Christian choose to do this, how it links to church life and reflect on the verse "Love Thy Neighbour..."

In the run up to Christmas, we will then be focussing on the good news within the Christmas story, linking back to our work on Good News at the start of the term.  We will be looking in particular about Elizabeth and Zechariah and the promises that God kept with them.  There will also be work on Christmas Carols that reflect the good news found in the bible.

Autumn 1 - Good News

This half term we are asking the question "How do the gospels encourage Christians to live as good news in the world today?"  Our two bible stories will be focussing on the miracles of the healing the Centurion's servant (Luke Chapter 7 v 1-10) and the Feeding of the 5,000 (Mark Chapter 6 v 30-44, Matthew Chapter 14 v 13-21, Luke Chapter 9 v 10-17 and John Chapter 6 v 1-14).  Children will be given the opportunity to discuss what happens in the two miracles and how these can help Christians in their everyday life today and also think about what Jesus is wanting to teach from them.
