English
Spring 1
We will be using Kai and The Monkey King to drive our reading and writing. This myth, set in Ancient China, will be used to help us to create our own mythological creatures and use them in our own myths. We will be focusing on developing our use of expanded noun phrases, relative clauses and fronted adverbials.
Autumn 2
We will be using 'Beowulf' by Michael Morpurgo to drive our reading and writing. This exciting story will be used to inspire us to write a further adventure for this legendary hero. We will continue to develop our spelling, punctuation and grammar skills through using high level descriptive language and dialogue to move our stories on.
Autumn 1
In our English lessons, we will be using the text 'A Place for Me - Stories of the Windrush Generation' to support our writing. We will be producing diary entries in role as passengers on Empire Windrush and our final outcome will be a hybrid information and persuasion text all about the Windrush Generation.
On Fridays, Mr Holland and Mrs Leigh will be teaching us Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar activities which will be used in our writing tasks. You can find useful links to practise these skills below:
