Spring 2

🎵 Music in EYFS and KS1 – Spring 2

This term, Mr Holland will be teaching music to our Year 1 and Year 2 children, following the Music Express scheme to develop their understanding of rhythm, pulse, pitch and early musicianship.

In EYFS, Vicky will be working closely with our Pre‑School and Reception children, helping them build a rich repertoire of songs and supporting them as they explore percussion instruments. Through singing, movement and playful music‑making, the children will have plenty of opportunities to experiment, perform and enjoy making music together.

Autumn 1

Moving and Grooving

This half term in Music, we're introducing the children to fundamental concepts of pulse and rhythm. Through a fun mix of activities children will:

Explore and move to different beats

Use body percussion (claps, taps and stomps!)

Develop their ability to feel and follow a steady pulse

All Year Round

Every other Thursday, Mrs Gould takes Otters to the Church for a Play and Praise session. The children use a variety of instruments and sing songs with Reverend Alec and Margaret. Each session is focused on a different theme and the children also get to ring the bell.
